The EMR submaximal test will enable us to outline Heart rate training zones and nutritional guidelines so that you can train effectively. By knowing you metabolism at rest and during exercise you can then get the most out of your training and reach your goals quicker. Essentially you are now training smarter by knowing how your body works and adapting a program to suit its needs.

The EMR will determine your efficiency of fat vs carbohydrate metabolism at various heart rates giving you information valuable to determining the number of post workout calories neccessary to replensih fuel stores. By knowing these figures you will give your body the best chance of recovery and stop you from slipping into the overtraining zone.
Information out of the EMR can let us pinpoint the exact point of maximum fat burning, known as the Aerobic Threshold. Ideally, we want your body burning Fats as the predominant fuel source during exercise. Therefore by knowing your Aerobic Threshold we can determine a training program to try and increase this threshold so that you are burning fats at a higher work load than previously thereby limiting the build up of Lactic Acid that comes from the burning of Carbohydrates. This will result in increased energy production and ultimately quicker race times.
Testing can be done on either a Stationary Bike, Treadmill or Concept 2 rower, all available at the Bikelab.
